James Hargrove M.S., Ph.D. founded Activated Light Technology Industries after gaining 20 years of laboratory experience performing analytical, physical, and environmental chemistry. He is active in analyzer development, odor and pollution reduction, and keeps sharp with tutoring of Math, Chemistry and Physics.
A key element of this experience was working for 8 years with Max Liston, a pioneer in the development of analytical instrumentation since the 1940's. James' experience designing and testing non dispersive infrared (NDIR) analyzers for CO, CO2, NO, NO2, SO2, HCl, SF6 hydrocarbons, fluorocarbons, and phosgene led him to understand the importance of long path-lengths and specificity in designing analyzers. James returned to school at UC Riverside to study new techniques, and earned his Ph.D. in 2007.
We provide personally tailored solutions to air pollution problems.
Photometric analyzers are superior in performance and cost to chemiluminescence analyzers. There are more than 500 chemiluminescence analyzers around California measuring NOx and they all read incorrectly! Chemiluminescence analyzers respond to other analytes besides NO indiscriminately, and also give low readings due to any humidity taking away the luminescent energy without producing light. Smokestack analyzers can also give low signals due to the high CO2 levels in smoke.
